Eileen Ruth Schurr, 88, of Castle Rock, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2024. Eileen was one of 7 children born to Henry and Dora (Eilers) Wolken of Urbana, Illinois.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert Wolken, Dick Wolken, Martin Wolken and Walter Wolken; and her sister Annetta (Wolken) Freese. She is survived by her sister, Marie Buhr of Rantoul, IL and her children Sheila Bartlett of Parker, CO, Brian Capps of Gatlinburg, TN, Traci Link of Centennial, CO, and Matthew Schurr of Centennial, CO as well as her 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was born in Urbana, IL on November 23, 1935. She was the youngest of her siblings and the first one to be born in a hospital. After growing up on the farm she received her Associate degree while attending Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Soon after she started working at the University of Illinois and met an Air Force Sergeant who she later married and was able to fulfill her desire for adventure and travel including being stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany with her former husband, Richard Capps and Sheila, Brian, and Traci. Eventually they were stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver and Colorado became her permanent home. Later she remarried Bill Schurr and they welcomed their son, Matthew.
Eileen had a love for the Lord, her church community, music, travel, cooking, shopping, treasured friendships, the mountains and most of all, her family.
Throughout her life, Eileen’s faith in God was unwavering. It was the foundation upon which she lived her life – a source of comfort, strength, and guidance in both joyful and challenging times. She leaves this legacy behind to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and we take comfort in knowing we will be reunited with her one day.
Eileen's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
