Elizabeth A. "Liz" Aguilar
1937 – 2019
Elizabeth Aguilar was born in Lincoln, NE to William and Lilas Webster. Liz passed away at age 82 on December 11, 2019, following a tragic series of strokes. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends in the memory care unit of the Carillon at Belleview station where she passed comfortably in her room.
She came to Denver in the late 1960's to pursue her love of teaching. Liz taught English Literature at North High School for many years and after retiring, began to substitute teach in both the Denver Public and Cherry Creek school systems. She met her soul mate, Carlos "Charlie" Aguilar, at the tennis courts of City Park in the heart of Denver. After a year of courtship, they were married in Denver and celebrated 32 years together raising their family.
Liz was a devoted parishioner to Central Christian Church for over 45 years. She was a member of the choir and served as head of the Elders. An eternal optimist, she had an infectious laugh and her bright blue eyes were the first thing people would notice about her. She loved reading, jazz, tennis, and especially traveling. She kept in shape through a variety of fitness activities and was constantly on the go. Her friends will remember her for her passion for life, loyalty, her devotion to family, and sometimes "offbeat" way of addressing things. She was quite the character and touched many lives in her 82 years.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents William and Lilas Webster and her husband Charlie. She is survived by her children Antonio, Alison and her grandson Kaden Aguilar.
She will be missed by those that loved and cared for her!
The heavens gained an angel the day she left this earth. May she rest in peace with those who paved the way and met her at the gates of heaven.
Services will be held at 10 AM on January 25, 2020 at Central Christian Church 3690 Cherry Creek S. Dr. Denver, CO 80209. Reception to follow, details to be announced soon.
