Elmer Dewitt Haynes Jr.

March 28, 1929 — July 29, 2021

Elmer DeWitt Haynes, age 92, of Denver passed to Heaven with his Lord and Savior on July 29, 2021. Elmer was born in Denver, Colorado to Elmer Haynes, Sr. and Pauline (Anderson) Haynes. He graduated from South High School and enlisted in the Navy. He later served in the Navy Reserve for decades. Elmer also worked for the USAF as a driving instructor for many years. In his golden years he started his own business where he was most lovingly known as Handy Andy, Master Balloon Artist. He loved making balloon animals, hats, corsages, swords, arches and displays much to the delight of all who were blessed by his gift. We know he is in Heaven now entertaining the saints with his balloon artistry.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Beverly Burns, her children, Bill Lenox (Vicki), Pat Kelley (Bill), and Pam Wood (Scott), his children, Elmer Haynes III (Karen), Duane Haynes, Doug Haynes (Martha), and Debra Haynes. He is also survived by grandchildren Sean, Bethey, Luke, Sara, Jessi, Andre, Vanessa, Aidia, Felicia, Asela, and Danielle, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other beloved family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife Jimmielee and son Darrell, and stepsons David Lenox and Jake Burns.

Elmer had an extensive collection of remote control model airplanes and he was an accomplished Ham Radio operator. He was known for recalling tales of all the experiences he had lived through in his 92 years. Elmer will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known his gentle soul and joyful smile.
