Elmer R. Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, 83, of Denver, passed away July 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 2, 1934 in Severin, Kansas, the son of John and Barbara (Bollig) Miller.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, KS.
Elmer honorably served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was discharged as a Specialist Third Class on December 16, 1957.
On February 7, 1959, he married Darlene Dinges.
Elmer was a plumber by trade. He worked as a foreman at Universal Plumbing Supply (now Dahl Plumbing Supply) for many years. In his later years, Elmer worked part-time at Klode Auto Auction and drove the auction trailer on sale days.
Elmer was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lakewood Elks Lodge. Elmer was also a former parishioner at Notre Dame Church and a current parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Elmer was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He loved to play and watch sports, especially Colorado Rockies baseball and Denver Broncos football. Elmer also bowled for years in a bowling league. He loved to read in his spare time.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Darlene Miller; two daughters, Kaye (Tim) Walter and Teresa (Donald) Crandell; grandchildren, Kenneth (Cynthia) Walter, Rachel (Kevin) McEntee, Natalie (Robert) Sudar, Brigid Crandell and Meaghan (Chris) Lemons; 9 great-grandchildren, Damian, KayeLeah, David, Bryan, Brandan, Emerson, Ty, Reese and Keaton with one on the way; 4 sisters, Edna VonFeldt, Lydia Pfannenstiel, Melfrieda Greenwood and Tillie (Clyde) Preston; one sister-in-law, June Miller and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Hubert and Robert Miller.
