Elsie Mae Simpson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elsie, who left this world peacefully on January 31st, just two months shy of her 99th birthday. She was a remarkable woman whose kindness, strength, and passion for life touched all who knew her.

Born in Southport, North Carolina, where she grew up with a deep sense of family and faith. Her journey took her to Colorado after a military transfer, where she and her family found a place to call home. She dedicated her life to education, shaping the minds of many as a devoted school teacher. Even in retirement, her love for learning and helping others never waned.

A true fitness enthusiast, she embraced an active lifestyle, often starting her Saturdays with long walks and filling her weeks with the joy of dance in her Zumba classes. Her energy and love for movement were a testament to her vibrant spirit.

Her compassion extended beyond her family and into her community. As an elder at her church, she selflessly dedicated her time to feeding the hungry each week, embodying the very essence of generosity and grace.

She is survived by her four loving sons, Stephen, Darryl, Gregory and Kevin, who will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and strength.

While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with joy, service, and unwavering love. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29th. We will gather at 10am and the service will begin at 11am where we will come together to honor and celebrate the incredible life of Elsie Mae. The location is Newcomers Funeral Home, East Metro Chapel, 190 Potomac Street, Aurora, CO 80011.
