Elvira L. Lewis was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Known as Vera by her friends and family, Vera passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
In 1968 Vera started her career with the Department of Defense where she made many lifelong friends. Vera retired in 2007 after providing 39 years of faithful service to the United States Government.
On January 11, 1976 Vera met the love of her life and best friend William "Bill" Lewis. They would then spend the next 43 years together side by side until her beloved husband passed in 2019.
Vera spent her life enjoying fishing, traveling, doting upon her faithful dogs, and being involved with many charitable organizations.
Vera is survived by her three children and their spouses, David (Megan Popa) Matheson, Michael (Rebeca) Matheson, and Lisa (Roman) Herrera. Vera also had four grandchildren whom she loved very much, Christian, Stephanie, Alex, and Vivian.
Vera will be placed at Fort Logan National Cemetery On March 18, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or the ASPCA.
