Emily H. Martinez

Emily Helen Martinez passed peacefully at home on July 18, 2020 surrounded by her husband and children. She is survived by her husband Andrew, and her children, Danny, Randy, Sandy DeMarzo and her husband Angelo, Rodney and his wife Lisa, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and an extended family.

Emily was born in Colorado and was married to Andrew for 65 years. They raised their children then moved to Central America for Andrew's work. They also lived in and worked in Mexico City and traveled extensively throughout South America, Europe, the Middle East and Canada. Emily enjoyed learning about different cultures and read fiction and non-fiction constantly and shared many books with friends and family.

Andrew and Emily returned to Colorado to retire and build a house in Golden, on Lookout Mountain. Emily was active in the Assistance League of Denver for over 10 years and worked at the Thrift store where she had many friends whom she enjoyed. Emily also loved to bowl and play bridge and had many friends and partners in the community center as well. Both these groups of friends and her family helped support her with a brave battle against cancer for the past 4 years.

Emily will be greatly missed and requested a donation to a cancer research organization or the Assistance League of Denver in lieu of flowers.
A life celebration will be planned in the future.
