Ernest Klemm

Ernest Joseph Klemm, 79, died April 9th, 2010, at Rose Medical Center Denver, CO due to complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Ernie was born November 3rd, 1930 in Brooklyn N.Y., to Ernest and Elsie Klemm.


He graduated from Briarcliff High School NY, and RPI with a BS degree in Biochemistry in Troy, NY. After graduation from college Ernie served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant, night time fighter pilot for the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge 1952-1957. After his term in the Navy, Ernie and his wife Jane moved to Indianapolis IN., where Ernie graduated with a MS degree in Biochemistry from Indiana University. Ernie and Jane, and their four children lived in New York and Connecticut. He worked for Zotos International for 25 years as a VP of Research and Development as a Cosmetic Chemist. He and Jane moved out to Dillon CO in 2001. He then made his home in Aurora in 2004.


He enjoyed hiking, camping, reading, swimming and the glorious Rocky Mountains. He also loved his daschunds Beamer and Schatze.

His family wrote: "Ernest loved life, and helped others in need. He was a sponsor of the Fresh Air Fund out of greater New York for 10 years, where he took in children from New York City during the summer. He also was a sponsor and contributor of the Abbot House and St Joseph's orphanage in Tarrytown NY and Poughkeepsie, NY."

He leaves behind his beloved wife Jane of 55 years. He is survived by his daughter Karen from Aurora Co., a daughter Ruth Goldschmidt and her husband Pat and their two children, Eric and Monika of Westport, CT., a daughter Lisa Kitchell and her husband Mark and their two daughters Micki and Kelly of Madison, CT., a son Ernie and his wife Darleen of Clifton Park, NY and their three children Josh, Matt and Kristie. He is survived by his Step mother Anne Klemm of Scottsdale, AZ. His brother Herb and his wife Lynda of Reno NV and his sister Elsie and her husband Bob Heidt of Scottsdale, AZ. He is predeased by his father and mother.


His two favorite books were The Holy Bible and The Giving Tree.


He will be sadly missed but know he is celebrating with his friends up in heaven.


Ernie was a man whose philosophy was "giving is more important than receiving."
