Ernest T. Martinez

October 10, 1939 — March 20, 2022

On Sunday March 20th, 2022, Ernest Thomas Martinez passed away with his wife Sandy, the love of his life, by his side.

Ernest was born on October 10, 1939 in Denver, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, Crystella and Eufemio Martinez and sister Roseanne. He is survived by his wife Sandy, children, Lloyd (Susie), Kevin (Annette), grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Justin, Jacob and Payton, sisters, Edna and Francis and brothers, Gilbert, Dean and Dwayne and step children Stanci (Tavis) Hagans and Shelley McBride, and many nieces and nephews.

Ernie, known by his friends as Chema, grew up in San Juan, CO. He graduated from Primero High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete and Class President. After high school, he served our great country for four years in the Army Reserves. He was an entrepreneur in the construction industry and played the trumpet and sang in a band called, "The Euphorics." He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He took pride in his gardens, growing award winning roses and dahlias. One of his greatest achievements was being a friend to Bill W. for 55 years and sponsoring and mentoring numerous people in the organization. He touched the hearts of everyone he met and had an uncanny ability to make them feel as if they were a part of his family.

He met his soulmate Sandy in 1992 and spent the remainder of his life with her, in everlasting love.
