Ernest John Underwood

Ernest John Underwood (73) of Bennett, Colorado passed away September 26, 2022 after a long-time disability and a short illness. Ernie (or EJ) grew up in Palisade, Colorado, graduating from Palisade High School. While he attended Mesa College, he also tried to keep up with a 30 acre orchard. As he said it, "home moved away from me." The property was sold and he moved on to Western State College in Gunnison where he completed his BS, MS and collected his wife, Rita Cochran. Teaching mainly secondary science, his interest in electronics drew him into the fledgling world of computers. He finished his career as a technology director.
He is survived by his wife and children Christopher (wife Lisa) Underwood, Tamra Hamilton, Jason Underwood and Tara Underwood as well as 3 grandchildren. No services are planned, per his request. He will be buried near his grandparents in Palisade Cemetery at a later date.
