Esequel K. Nuanes

April 3, 1924 — December 11, 2020

Esequel K. Nuanes, 96, of Denver, CO was reunited with his deceased wife Connie Nuanes, son Anthony Nuanes and their beloved dog "Precious", a miniature poodle, on December 11, 2020. On April 3, 1924 he was born in Kim, CO to Silvlano and Aurelia Maria Nuanez. Raised by his grandparents, Esequel spent his childhood helping take care of property and animals on the family farm.

He married Connie Trujillo on June 18, 1942 in Trinidad, CO. Before moving to Denver in 1955, he worked as a miner in the coal mines. Allowing Connie to be a dedicated stay at home mother and wife for several years, Esequel worked various hard labor jobs in the construction industry. He celebrated 72 long happy years of marriage before becoming a widower in 2014.

At the age of 62, Esequel retired from the Local Union 720 allowing him and his wife to begin sharing their love and precious time together. Together they made memories by dancing, leading wedding marches at weddings, and watching their family grow. All happiness they shared together good, bad, and illness.

Esequel spent much of his time watering and caring for his yard, but his favorite hobby, by far, was working on his Ranchero. He also loved to cheer on the Denver Broncos and tell the Rookies precisely how to play. He was a family man that loved gatherings and picnics with his Mexican music.

Esequel is survived by three of his children, Katy Garcia (Lakewood, CO), Kelly Nuanes (Denver, CO), and Sandra Gerlach (Denver, CO). He is also survived by 7 grandkids (Holly, Daniel, Kevin, Marc, Eric, Jessica, Anthony), 15 great grandkids (Ashley, Shania, Daniel, Ambria, Jaydan, Savanna, Amari, Aric, Jordan, Rayah, Aydan, Donovan, Nevina, Bella, Marc Jr.) six great-great grandkids (Ethan, Julian, Amiyah, Phoenix, Athena and Charlee) & many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be at Crown Hill Cemetery on December 22, 2020 for immediate family only.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced.
