Ethan James Shaff, age 26, died on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Aurora, Colorado. He is survived by his mother and brother, Barbara and Logan Shaff from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and his father James Shaff from Tower Hill, Illinois. Additional surviving family members include uncle Larry Halford from Winthrop, Washington, aunt Linda Lipske from Summerville, SC, aunt, Marlene Elliott from Rochester, New York, and cousins Amanda Lipske, Corey Lipske and Hank Elliott.
Ethan was born on March 24, 1990, in Charleston, SC. He grew up on James Island, SC, where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, fishing, and most of all skateboarding. He attended James Island High School before moving to the Denver area in June 2005. He continued to be an avid skateboarder, and also loved the mountains and snowboarding. He graduated from Thunder Ridge High School in 2008.
A memorial service to honor Ethan will be held on Monday, April 4th at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Metro Chapel, 190 N Potomac Street in Aurora, Colorado.
Ethan was employed by Weifield Group Contracting as an apprentice electrician. In recent years, Ethan struggled with addiction and continued to be an active member of the recovering community. He fought his disease with courage. He was an extraordinarily kind and compassionate young man who loved fiercely and deeply, and had a smile that lit up the room.
