Eugene E. Martin

September 6, 1937 — December 14, 2021

Eugene E. Martin was born on September 6, 1937, during the depression, to the deceased Jack Leonard & Anna May Martines, at Beth Israel Hospital in Denver. His father owned City Sidewalk Company in Denver, Colorado. Gene was the youngest of five children.

Gene attended Lake Junior High School and North High School, in Denver, CO, graduating in 1955. In high school, he played the drums in the orchestra and band. Gene also was the Student Body President as a top student. After high school, he joined the Navy and went into the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He would play the drums for his entire career in the Navy. His rank was Musician Petty Officer – 3rd Class, and he played for dignitaries and public relations. During the Suez Crisis, when reporting to his battle station, he physically injured himself. When in the hospital, he became seriously ill with Hepatitis. He spent time in the hospital. The doctors weren't sure he would recover. Despite the odds, he did recover, and started playing drums with some jazz bands around Denver. Eventually, he got married and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked for a large company and set up their computer system.

He then moved to Salinas, California, where he worked for some computer companies. He parted with his then-wife and moved back to Colorado. After a brief stint in Real Estate, selling income properties. This was during the 1980's when interest rates were

so high that sales were very few and far between. He started selling furniture at Montgomery Ward. It was during that time that he met Joan . She was still selling real estate, later deciding to go into market research. They dated for several years, then married on July 28, 1984. They were married for almost 38 years.

Gene loved his new family. Gene and Joan watched her first grandchild grow from a baby into the wonderful lady that she became.

When the second granddaughter, now a lovely woman, that gave them so much happiness, was born, Gene was there.

Gene was a real cat lover. He truly loved little Lila, and she loved him also. If you were on Facebook, you could see all the pictures he had of Lila.

Gene was a charismatic salesman with a sense of humor that people adored. One day, Joan asked him what made him a believer in God. He said: "Jesus came to die for me and the rest of the world. Nobody else would die for me and forgive me for all of the wrongs I have done." Joan said: "You got that right."

Gene went to be with his Lord on December 14, 2021, at 84 years old. He is survived by his wife, Arlus Joan Martin, and his two sisters, Darlene Waldron of Federal Heights, Colorado, and Norma Jean Vescovo of Van Nuys, California. His stepson, Ken Garrison, and his wife, Renate. Granddaughter Tiffany Mason and her husband, Noah. Great-granddaughter Caelyn Mason and great-grandson Cohen Mason. Granddaughter Nicole Frank and her husband, David Frank.

We miss him so much, but we will always have good memories in our hearts.
