In Loving Memory of Eugene Lynn Mosier ("Papa") September 30, 1948 – November 16, 2024
Eugene Lynn Mosier, 76 of Parker, CO, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 16, 2024. He was born to the late Thurman and Thelma Mosier, Sept. 30, 1948, in Denver, CO. His father passed away in 1959, when Gene was 11 years old, he and his family moved to Charleston, SC and lived with his older brother Jim Mosier and his family for a time. He grew up surfing and living the ocean life on James Island. He graduated High School in Charleston and attended The Citadel Military Collage of South Carolina.
In 1972 Gene and his late wife, Andrea Anderson, moved to Denver and shortly thereafter he began his career at Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado. They had three children: Brad Mosier of Aspen, CO, Seth, and Breean Mosier currently reside in Thornton, CO.
He worked most of his 36 years in the Conditioning Department at Coors before retiring in 2009. During those years he organized and played lots of sports with his co-worker friends; some of which were basketball, ski team, bowling, softball, and golf.
To his children, Gene was a very hands-on father; he loved being with his kids. He coached soccer and baseball and never missed a piano or dance recital. Every summer he would take them camping or exploring and, in the winter, you could find him chasing all three of them down the ski slopes. He made life fun, and his kids always knew they could count on him for anything and everything.
Gene embraced life with humor, kindness, and an unmatched ability to bring people together with food.
In 2005 Gene met Pam Rhodes, also a long-time employee at Coors, and a year later married on March 12, 2006, nearly 19 years now.
Known to most as Gene, or Papa to his grandsons and their friends, his life was a testament to love, family, and friends, leaving an unforgettable legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
When they retired, they dreamed of RV adventures and travel, but family always took precedence. Their first grandson arrived just as they were ready to hit the road. They did eventually take several cross-country trips visiting dear friends and family and they loved seeing the country. He also played golf with new friends and treasured the camaraderie they had. Even when he couldn’t play as much in recent years, he relished recounting every round and adventure with vivid enthusiasm and stayed in touch with them.
For over 15 years, Nana and Papa have lived with Susan and Jim Krodel, and as two more grandsons were born, they grew this loving circle of 7. To his grandchildren, Papa was a hero, a confidant, the family chef, and their biggest cheerleader. He called them HIS boys, showing up for every game, play, and performance. He read stories, helped with homework, gave wonderful back scratches, and shared countless moments of joy with them-whether untangling fishing lines on camping trips or participating in indoor snowball fights at Christmas.
Cooking was Papa’s ultimate love language. Every meal he prepared was filled with love, from his legendary green chili to his Sunday biscuits and gravy. A piece of “just-cooked” bacon, delivered hot on a paper towel, became a cherished family tradition. He never missed an opportunity to make his family’s favorite meals!
Gene was also a storyteller, weaving tales of his life with humor and heart. His stories brought his family and friends closer to the people he loved dearly, and his kids, Brad, Seth, and Breean were often the topic of conversation. His passion for photography captured his family's countless adventures, from teaching each of his kids to ski at young ages, Disney World, Maui to Stagecoach Reservoir and just about every family trip ever taken.
Gene is survived by his wife, Pam Rhodes; sons, Brad Mosier, Seth Mosier, and Shawn Walcker, daughters Breean Mosier and Susan Krodel (Jim), brother Joe Mosier (Gloria); sister-in-law Linda Mosier; two nieces, Stacy Mosier-Miles (Joe Miles), Leslie Mosier and great-niece Shelby Mosier, and three grandsons, James, Jacob, and Jackson Krodel.
