Evalynne Downes

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Evalynne Downes passed away peacefully at the age of 76 with her adoring family by her side.
Born to John and Eva Gurski on December 4, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ, Evalynne graduated from St. Aloysius Academy before receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State University with a double major in French Studies and Education. Evalynne was the founder of Lara's Crème Inc., an organic skincare line. She was a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, an active participant in the New York Women's National Republican Club, and a fervent supporter of the US military - writing over 10,000 letters to overseas, active-duty troops. Evalynne was passionate for global travel, the arts, but above all, her Catholic faith and family.
Evalynne married the love of her life, Robert Downes in 1967. For 55 years of marital bliss, they lived together in New Jersey, Texas, Belgium, and Ireland, before retiring to Colorado in 2002. Evalynne is survived by her husband and three children: Robert Downes II (Pamela), of Walnut Creek, CA; Sean Downes (Erika), of Morristown, NJ; and Lara Downes O'Shaughnessy (Michael), of Denver, CO. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren.
Evalynne's gift was to inspire and encourage everyone she encountered. Eloquently stated by a close family friend, Dr. Eli Curi, "Evalynne touched deeply everyone she met and is an ambassador of life and friendship which she promoted in the spirit of love, union and beliefs."
