Everett Duriel Shockley, Jr., 42, was born to Everett Haynes Shockley and Dr. Angela Starr Choyce on February 14, 1982, in Maywood, Illinois. He was the first born to this union.
Everett "Pooh" known to his family, received his formal education at Mrachek Middle School, where he was on the wrestling team. He also played football for the Aurora Youth League. Everett went on to attend Hinkley High School in Aurora, Co. He took a break from regular high school to attend Job Corp of America in Collbran, CO where he homed in on his love for cooking and specialized in culinary arts. Upon leaving Job Corp. Everett continued his education at David L. Hartenbach High School in Aurora, Colorado to achieve a high school diploma in 2001. In 2019, Evertt made the decision to give college a try. He enrolled at Arapahoe Community College, where he studied Mortuary Science. Where is also served as a peer counselor and was also inducted into the Honor Society.
Everett was an avid reader. So much so that he would read encyclopedias and the bible repeatedly. While he faced many challenges in his short life, he would always try to rise to the occasion when it came to his family. Pooh loved being an uncle. His nieces and nephews meant the world to him. He had the type of charisma and personality that drew people to him. At an early age Everett professed his faith in God and excepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. As a child his other nickname was "preacher", because he loved to wear suits to church. He was an active member at Miracle Revival Cathedral in Maywood, Illinois as a junior deacon, Maywood Seventh Day Adventist Church in Maywood, Illinois in the youth choir, and Spread the Word Church in Aurora, Colorado in youth ministry.
After many personal and physical struggles, Everett "Pooh" Shockley departed this life on May 15, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado. Everett was preceded in death by his grandparents William Shockley, Eveyln Shockley, Jerome Moore and Shirley Moore; and his beloved uncle Derrick Moore.
Everett leaves to cherish his memory; his father Everett (Sonya) Shockley of Bellwood, Illinois; his mother Dr. Angela (Kenneth) Choyce of Jackson, Tennessee, sister Tahndrea Shockley (Javon) of Aurora, Colorado; brother Eric Shockley (Stephanie) of Aurora, Colorado; stepsisters Kendra Choyce, Keiana Richard (Kareen) and Caemeille Choyce of Colorado; stepbrother Kenneth Choyce, Jr (Lily) of Nevada; godmother Joanne Lily, godfather John Dorris; four nephews, ten nieces and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
