In Loving Memory of
Faustina F. "Dusty" Chandler
1930 - 2021
Dusty, age 90 of Aurora Colorado, returned to her heavenly home, peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, surrounded by her family after a long battle with dementia.
Dusty was born June 20, 1930, on the family farm in Selfridge, ND to August and Lagada (Bachmeier) Dirk. She grew up in Bismarck, ND, and graduated from St. Mary's High School. In 1951, she married her husband, Kenneth "Bum" Chandler, who preceded her in death in 2009, at which time they had been married 58 years. She worked as a secretary in North Dakota, California and Colorado until 1980, when she and her husband opened their first liquor store in Aurora, CO. She retired in 2007.
She was an amateur genealogist, spending many hours researching and documenting her family history, sharing it with family and the Germans from Russia Historical Society (Bismarck, ND), of which she was a long-standing member. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Bismarck, ND) for many years. Dusty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics and gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family - whether it was around her table at Thanksgiving or on her backyard deck for a BBQ. She was quite a meticulous person and took great pride in her home and her family.
Dusty is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanmaire Wolfe of Aurora; Carole Jahn of Winter Park; 1 son, Dirk Chandler of Aurora; 3 granddaughters, Casey Jo Wolfe of Aurora; Carly Wolfe of Berthoud; Jessica (Chandler) Hoxworth of Aurora; 3 grandsons, Eric Jahn of Winter Park, Caleb Jahn of Kersey, Joshua Jahn of Loveland; 4 great-grandchildren, Donovan and Quinton Parker, Evelynn Jahn and Wryann Hoxworth; her brother-in-law Donald (Joe) Chandler and niece Darlyn (Becker) Chandler; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Lagada Dirk, her husband Kenneth "Bum" Chandler (2009), her sisters Marian Becker (2015) and Lagada (Babe) Weigel (2020). She will be missed beyond words.
