Federico L. "Fred" Roybal, 70, of Lakewood, formerly of Trinidad, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 25, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, known to his grandchildren as "Papa".
Fred served as a Marine from August, 1958 to August, 1962. He worked in the construction industry for over 35 years. His hobbies included reading, hiking, puzzles and most of all working in his garage making picture frames, rocking horses, shadow boxes, etc., for family and friends. Fred loved and looked forward to hunting and fishing with his brother, son, grandchildren, nephews and friends.

Fred lived his life giving, loving and helping his family or anyone who needed him.
Fred is survived by his wife, Marie "Toni" Roybal; his children. Claudia (Phil) Apodaca, Mark Roybal and Joann Roybal; grandchildren; Michael, Matthew, Katie, Alaina, Daniel, Adam, Marie, Brandon and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Michelle and Xzavier; brothers, August Roybal, George Roybal, Pat Roybal; sisters, Florida Vigil, Nora Courtney, Madeline Roybal and Mary Ellen Gayhardt. Fred is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Hew was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine and Costancia Roybal; brother, Tom Roybal and sisters, Frances Sena and Eva Montoya.
Recitation of the Rosary, led by Deacon Chuck Parker, Tuesday, 7:00 pm; Funeral Mass, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Leo Horrigan, Wednesday 1:00 pm, both at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 So. Sheridan Blvd., Denver. Interment, Fort Logan National Cemetery. Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps and the All Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Lee Stewart, Dennis Montoya, Bruce Roybal, Frank Maes, Brian Roybal and Tom Roybal. Honorary pallbearers are "Hunting Partners", August Roybal, Danny Gordy, Doug Harris, Robert Qualls, Adam Cortes, Johnathon Qualls, Nicky Gordy, Boyd Qualls, Fred Roybal, Stephan Mueller and Gordon Brownlow.
