Fern L Veasman, 92, of Lakewood, CO died on Sunday, July 10th.
Fern was born on the winter solstice (shortest day of the year), December 21, 1929. Her parents were the late Carless and Maude (Alexander) Baker. Fern was the 5th child of 10 children. She had six sisters, four of whom are deceased, Pauline Campbell, Lorene Irvin, Lola Kelly, and Darlene Watson. Fern is survived by two sisters, Wanda Warren and Joyce Ruhl both of Dixon, MO. Fern's three brothers (deceased) were, Wilburn Baker, Wayman Baker, and Dorman Baker. Fern went to school in Dixon and as a teenager met a handsome, young man from there, the late Marion G Veasman whom she married on April 26, 1947 in Dixon. Marion was offered a job to work on building Granby Dam in Colorado so Fern and Marion moved to Colorado shortly after they were married and lived in Granby for a few years and then they moved to Denver. Fern lived in the house Marion and his dad built in 1953. She lived in it until March, 2020 when she moved into an assisted living facility.
During her life Fern worked at the Gates Rubber Company in Denver. She was an excellent seamstress who taught sewing at Singer Sewing Company at Villa Italia Shopping Center and completed her working career as kitchen manager for Denver Public Schools. Through the years she loved doing sewing crafts and participated in many craft fairs. She was active in her church, Brentwood United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
Fern is survived by her only son, Gary D. (Louise C.) of Federal Heights, CO. She is also survived by her two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law, Ruth Veasman of Morrison, CO and many friends.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the wonderful people at Brookdale Hospice who took such great care of Fern these last few months.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 4th at Brentwood United Methodist Church (address above) at 11:00 am, luncheon to follow at church, with burial at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 2:00 pm, staging area "A".
