Florence Elaine Millison

Florence Elaine Millison died December 23, 2022 at age 85, surrounded by her family. A longtime resident of Lakewood, Colorado. Florence passed away at Swedish Medical Center after a brief illness.

Florence was born February 8, 1937 in Lockport, New York. She was the daughter of Dominick DeFlippo and Barbara DeFlippo. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son David Millison, and her sister Barbara Poyfair.

She is survived by three of her children: Anne Smith and her husband Roger, Bob Millison and his wife Pam, and Barb Howell and her husband Nick. Florence was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Melissa, Samantha, Jenelle, Emily, Amy, and Nathan. Florence is also survived by her siblings Constance, Gerald, and Donna Kay, and she will be remembered by dozens of nieces and nephews and close family friends from New York to Colorado.

A career educator with a Master's Degree and a passion for working with children, Florence was an elementary school teacher who influenced thousands of students and their families over the course of her career, which spanned more than four decades. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring mother and grandmother. Florence was loved and cherished and will be missed by many.

A celebration of Florence's life will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home at 901 South Sheridan Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80226 on Wednesday January 11. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Newcomer starting at 10am for the memorial service, which begins at 11am.
