Floyd E. Snyder
Brigadier General, USAF (ret.) and former Captain of United Airlines, 76, of Brighton, CO, and formerly of Elizabethville, PA broke the bounds of earth Monday, January 24, 2011. Born August 7, 1934 in Pillow, PA, he was the son of the late Emory W. and Eva C. (Klinger) Snyder. Floyd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, PA. He graduated from Elizabethville High School in 1951. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Colorado and a Masters of Political Science in International Affairs from Auburn University, Alabama. Additionally, he was a graduate of the Industrial War College of the Armed Forces and the Air War College at Montgomery, AL. Brig Gen Snyder retired from the Wyoming Air National Guard after 32 years of military service. He was Group Commander of the 153rd Tactical Airlift Group, Cheyenne, WY, and later Wyoming State Chief of Staff for the Air National Guard. He was a line check Airman and Captain for United Airlines. He flew the B-747 and instructed at the Training Center at United. In addition to his wife, Mari Awata Snyder, he is survived by three brothers, Guy A. of Elizabethville,PA, Glenn W. of Lakewood, CO, and Derle M. of Harrisburg, PA; and two sisters, Darlene Strohecker of Halifax, PA, and Joyce Reinfeld of Halifax, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 Skeel Street, Brighton, CO. Officiating the service is Reverend Bradley Kline. Also a memorial service with military honors and inurnment will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Erdman, PA with Reverend Jan Mills officiating.
