Floyd M. Sack, 79, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away August 17, 2010.
He was the father of Mary Ann (Ron) McCracken, Rebecca (Ron) Barnes, James Sack, and the late Mark and David Sack. He was grandfather of Rebekka (McCracken) Mekonnen, Alyssa (McCracken) Rich, Elena Barnes, Victoria McCracken and Sophia Barnes. He was the brother of Wendell Sack, Thelma Snell, Stan Sack, Sharon Karlstrum, and Sherman Sack. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Floyd graduated from Longmont High School in 1948, Midwest Christian College in 1952, and Texas Christian University in 1954. The Longmont Church of Christ ordained Floyd as minister in 1949. He started and ministered at Littleton Christian Church (1957), Green Mountain Christian Church (1961) and Salt Lake Christian Church (1962), and served as an elder and Sunday school teacher at Westside Christian Church and Bear Valley Christian Church. Floyd also helped found The Christian Church Extension Foundation.
Floyd served four terms in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1967 to 1974 as a Republican representing Jefferson County. He remained active in politics throughout his life.
Working as a commercial real estate developer, Floyd founded his own company, Empire Development, in 1971, and oversaw dozens of government, retail and non-profit projects in Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Utah, Nevada, Kentucky and Virginia.
Visitation will be Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM; Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 1:00PM, both at the Newcomer Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel. Rev. Bill Claycomb, officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron McCracken, Ron Barnes, Don Simmons, Herb Keck, Peter Mekonnen and Dave Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Albi and Bill Webb.
