Frances Gallentine

December 30, 1919 — February 24, 2025

Lakewood

Frances Myrtle Gallentine December 30, 1919 to February 24, 2025 Frances was preceded in death by her husband Noel George Gallentine, and is survived by her four children, Jerry Gallentine, Jackline Brown, Don (Connie) Gallentine, Gene (Lori) Gallentine, and 6 of her 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

At 105, she touched so many lives and was a huge role model to so many of us. Her close friends called her Fran. She was also known as mom, grandma, great grandma, gg, great great grandma, Aunt Frances, great aunt, and friend. She didn't like her middle name; if you said it she would frown at you. Born in 1919, in Kansas she grew up on a farm, lived through the dust bowl, saw the introduction of radio, television, telephone, several wars, computers, and cell phones. She loved to 'feesh" and camp. She also loved to travel, not only has she seen much of the United States, she traveled abroad with her children and great grandchildren. She loved games: cribbage, zilch, Yahtzee, 5 Crowns, Connect4. She would be glad to take your money!

Ask her where she wanted to go out to eat, it was usually Mexican; for a chile relleno with sour cream. Ask the family what they liked best? It would be her homemade beef and noodles on Christmas with her wedding cake cookies or fruit cake for dessert!

Her love of gardening was passed down at least 3 generations. She always had a wonderful vegetable garden. It was a competition every year among her and her sons, who had the biggest, first, best tomato (or whatever). She had a beautiful perennial garden too. Thanks to her, we all do, and a great love of birds. We love sharing our garden pics with each other.

Can you believe she walked every day? She walked up until she fell and broke her leg during the pandemic, at 101. When Fitbit's became popular, she had one! And, she was intent on her 10,000 steps every day

She always had a diary with her, whether on vacation, camping or by her rocker. Those diaries are sure to be full of some good stories and memories

She had words for things that will always make her unique and bring a smile; feesh for fish, she didn't shovel snow, she scooped it, and she didn't say darn it, she said, "oh, fudge"

She was an amazing woman and role model. We can all only hope to live and age with grace as she did. There are so many of us who loved her and will remember her fondly. Fran, Frances, mom, grandma, great grandma you will be missed!
