It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank (Bill) William Whiteman. He passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family while under hospice care.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Joette, to whom he was devoted for 71 years, and his children Darlene, Danny, and daughter-in-law Kathy, David, and daughter-in-law, whom he called daughter, La Vonne, all mourn his loss deeply. Brother Earl Lee and Patricia (Pat).
Frank was a proud grandad to Melissa and her husband Casey, Michelle, Serina and her husband Abe, Joseph and his wife Robin, William, and Steven, and a great grandad to Aiden, Landon, LauraSue, Drew, and Jazmin.
He treasured every moment he spent with his family and friends, and his life will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will always be remembered as a warm-hearted, generous, and caring man who devoted himself to ensuring his family was always taken care of in the best possible way, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank, and Goldie, as well as his younger siblings, John, and Robert (Bob), and his sister Elizabeth (Betty). He also lost his son-in-law, Michael, and two grandchildren, Jonathan Michael, and Amanda Robin, before his passing.
Frank served his country with pride and honor in the United States Air Force for 26 years and 18 days, and after his retirement, he continued to serve by volunteering as Secretary of the National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS) (CO #1) and past secretary of the United Veterans Committee of Colorado (UVC). He also continued to serve in The Retired Enlisted Association, Inc. (TREA) and the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA), and Frank was named an Honorary Member with the Colorado Merchant Marines Veterans (AMMV).
Frank was a man of strong conviction who lived his life with honor, integrity, and determination and instilled those values in his children and grandchildren. He was always willing, without hesitation, to lend a helping hand to his family, neighbors, and friends. Throughout his life, Frank never met a stranger; he truly enjoyed conversation and was always willing to strike up a dialogue with anyone he met. Many times, he was told, "Frank, you should write a book. You have led such a fascinating life!"
One of his final wishes was for his son, David, to remember his strong political beliefs. He told David, "I won't vote Democrat!" and "My final vote goes to Donald J. Trump for President 2024!" which he said with passion and conviction.
Frank will be deeply missed; however, his legacy will live on, he will forever be remembered as a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, grandad, great-grandad, US military veteran, friend, and child of God. May he forever rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
