Fred Nimerichter, 90, passed in his bed at his home during the night of March 3. Thanks to his angel Rhonda, he was able to leave earth from the place he wanted when the good Lord was ready to take him to heaven. A vibrant, charming, handsome, kind, and gentle soul, Fred lived a full life and felt blessed to have such a wonderful family and so many dear friends of all ages.
A resident of Aurora for 54 years, Fred grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Buhl in 1953. They were married almost 64 blissful years before Mary Lou proceeded him in death in 2017. The couple lived in Nebraska until they moved to Colorado in 1967 for Fred's work with Western Electric. Fred was a devoted husband and father of three daughters and grandfather of four grandkids who he cherished immensely.
Fred served in the US Army during the Korean War and took up photography while he was there. He retired after 30 years of work with various phone companies. Fred was also known as Fritz the Clown. For over ten years, he brought cheer to nursing homes and at special events through the Pioneers club at work. Later in life he devoted more time to his love for wood working and became a very talented and creative woodworker. He generously gifted his beautiful works of art to family and friends. He also took incredible pride in his home and all the amazing remodeling and upkeep he did in it over the years. Fred was a fixer… give him a tool and he could repair just about anything. He was also a fisherman and it brought him so much joy to share this love with his eldest grandsons. He was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer at the Aurora Community Hospital.
Fred was a jokester at heart and made his loved ones laugh often. Incredibly generous, he was always there for his family and friends. His enthusiasm, humor, guidance, smile, and affection will be missed, but forever, treasured.
Fred Nimerichter is survived by daughters Cynthia Nimerichter and her husband Ted Worcester, Rhonda Nimerichter, and Jodee Nimerichter and her husband Gaspard Louis; grandchildren Chaz and Evan Matsumoto and Dahlia and Preston Louis; sister-in-laws Joyce Lewis and Carol Capps and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
