Beloved Husband and Father
Fred Maier, 89, of Greenwood Village, CO passed away Saturday, September 05, 2009. Fred was a World War II Veteran and during his service supported the mission that delivered the first atomic bomb on Japan. He owned a gas station; worked for Grumman Aircraft building private jets; drove a school bus; and finally ended his working career as a mechanic for New York City Transit. Fred was highly recognized for his needle point work and received numerous awards from country fairs. Fishing, playing cards and dominos, bowling, Friday night pizza and beer and watching TV with a jar of candy brought him joy. He is survived by his sons: Frederick Maier, III, Kenneth Maier, and William Maier; brother, William Maier; daughters: Donnie, Irene, and Cindy; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Nadine Maier; his brothers Roy and Stanley Maier; and granddaughter Elizabeth Maier. He was loved by his family and will be missed.
