Frederick Leroy Newton, known as "Fred", 82, of Denver, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
He was born to the late Leroy and Velma Newton, August 29, 1937 in Denver, Colorado. Fred graduated from West High School in 1956. He married Patricia "Pat" Brethauer in July 1961 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Denver, with Reverend Tiefel officiating. They lived together in Lakewood, Colorado.
Fred was working with his father in the service station business, first with Standard Oil and then with Conoco for the next 40 plus years in Lakewood. He was the sole owner from 1971 until he retired in 1998. During this time he had managed to work with kids in football, baseball and basketball from 1974 to 1980.
Fred is survived by his wife, Pat, two children, Lisa Poholek of Lakewood and Mike Newton of Longmont, Colorado. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one soon to be born in March of this year. Fred is also survived by a sister Debbie Clapham, nephew Kevin Clapham, niece Katy Drew and their children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Velma Newton, sisters Ella Mae Odell and Lucille Nelson.
