Frieda Schaffert

January 16, 1924 — October 14, 2022

Frieda Schaffert 1/16/1924 - 10/14/2022

Frieda was called home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2022, she was 98 years 8 months and 29 days young.

Frieda passed away surrounded by family in her home in Winter Park, Florida. Greeting her in heaven is her husband and all her parents, siblings, and many friends. She is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Frieda was born in Hoffnungstal, Ukraine and met and married her adoring husband, Adolf, in her travels through Europe. They came to the United States and were very proud to be Americans. Upon arrival to the U.S.A. Frieda did not speak English, but she was driven to learn and caught on quickly since she spoke German, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish fluently. She was eager to help others obtain their citizenship and helped many family members get their citizenship as well.

Frieda and her husband started their family in Colorado when they were thrilled to adopt their daughter, Linda. She worked while taking care of her family in a variety of fields including a meat processing plant, where she grew to dislike hotdogs, and retired from Safeway after being a reliable clerk for 16 years. She was known for her speed and accuracy in math and handling money as well as dependability. Even in snow storms the manager would say "don't you worry about Frieda she will be here early". Frieda managed the house she built with her husband independently until she was 97. She moved to Florida with her daughter and granddaughter's family in 2022.

Frieda was a woman with strong faith and great work ethic. Her love of baking and playing games brought friends and loved ones together and her kindness kept them close. Her church, caring for her house and family gave her great purpose and kept her active. While this loving wife, attentive mother, wonderful Grammy, hard worker, and teacher will be greatly missed, her legacy and love will still be making an impact for many years to come. Frieda's biggest wish was for all to find Jesus and His love, and for everyone to know that He will not put more on you than He can handle, and He will never leave nor forsake you.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you kindly place donations Red Rocks Baptist Church in Frieda's name.
