Gail Spruill

Gail Spruill, 76, of Aurora and beloved wife of Lotta, passed away May 19, 2020.

She was born April 21, 1944 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of James and Mary (Smithwick) Spruill. She was a graduate of high school in South Carolina. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Jacksonville University in Florida.

Gail was the Program Manager for Substance Abuse and Mental Health. She was instrumental in coordinating an excellent Children's Mental Health Program in Volusia and Flagler County. Gail was a lifelong advocate for children and also people with mental health issues.

Gail was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Aurora.

Gail was an avid reader. She loved to travel and traveled around the country in her RV after retirement. Gail also loved her pets and her grandchildren. She was known as "The Fun Grandma."

On April 18, 2015, she married Lotta Mapp after 10 years of courtship and 20 years of friendship.

Gail is survived by her loving wife, Lotta Mapp; brother, Robert Spruill; step-son, William Jason (Akiko Mapp) Mapp; two step-grandchildren, Akira Mapp and Reina Mapp; two nephews, John Spruill and Vic Spruill; sister-in-law, Rebecca Mosser; brother-in-law, Jim (Kumi) Taylor; cherished dog, April and two beloved cats, Emma and Ellie.

She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Virginia Spruill; father, James Robert Spruill and mother, Mary B. Spruill.
