Gary Edward Donaho, passed away at age 83 years old, at his home in Littleton, Colorado, on October 9, 2023, due to a lengthy illness, suffering from Parkinson's Disease.
Gary was born on October 10, 1939, in Salida, Colorado. The only child of Edward Donaho and Veta (Snyder) Donaho. Gary spent his childhood and teenage years growing up in Southwest Denver on South Tennyson Street. Gary attended Westwood Elementary School. He was part of the first class of students to attend Kepner Junior High School and graduated from Denver's West High School in 1957. Gary was active in sports in his youth, and achieved the rank of "Life" Scout in the Boys Scouts of America.
Gary married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Hopperstad, in Lakewood, Colorado on October 16, 1959. They celebrated 64 years of marriage this past October, 2022.
Gary attended Engineering Drafting School at Metropolitan State University and obtained his Associates Degree.
Gary's first job was working for Sam Fox Sheet Metal of Denver, Marschall and Johnson Engineering, U.R.S., Ken White Engineering and worked for many years at R.M.H. Engineering, where he was involved in several projects - the IBM Facility in Boulder, Design of the surgical operating rooms at the University of Colorado Hospital and the reconstruction of "Bents Old Fort" in LaJunta, Colorado.
Gary was a proud Service Member and Reservist of the United States Coast Guard from 1959 to 1965. Gary was an avid fly-fisherman, fly tier and member of Trout Unlimited. He was also an avid bowler, woodworker and Scout Master of Troop 356 of Littleton, Colorado.
Gary was an active member of Centennial Lutheran Church, St. Philip Lutheran Church, both of which are located in Littleton, Colorado, and the Poudre River Chapel, in the Cache La Poudre Canyon, Colorado.
Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Hopperstad) Donaho of Littleton, Colorado, his son Edward Donaho and his wife Karen of Englewood, Colorado; his daughter Kimberly Donaho of Littleton, Colorado; his grandchildren Darin Donaho of Aurora, Colorado, Dustin Donaho and his wife Rikki Allen of Englewood, Colorado, and Kailey Donaho of Englewood, Colorado. He also has a surviving great-grandchild, Avery Donaho (daughter of Darin) of Aurora, Colorado.
