Gary Kent Hale

April 15, 1950 — October 26, 2024

Aurora, Colorado

Gary passed to his eternal home on October 26, 2024. Throughout his long battle with cancer his faith in God never wavered. He knew God had numbered his days and he never questioned the journey.

He was preceded in death by his brother Mark Hale, in 1992, his father James Hale in 2008, and his mother Shirley Hale in 2015. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Larry Taylor, his nephews Christopher Taylor and wife Hannah, Jared Taylor and Heather, and his two miracle great-nieces Aurora and Addison Taylor.

He is also survived by his beloved cousins John (Mary) Hoefner, Nancy (Floyd) Leonard, Mike (Sharesa) Fetrow, and Ann Mortensen. His family has been a great comfort and blessing.

Gary grew up in Aurora Colorado and graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1968. He joined the Marines in 1969, was stationed on the aircraft carrier Midway in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1973. He was proud to serve the country he loved.

He went to college at the University of Colorado Boulder and earned his Pharmacy Degree. During his career he worked at Beth Israel Hospital, Presbytrian Hospital Denver, Kansas City Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, and University of Colorado Hospital.

Gary was married twice, and his second marriage took him to Kansas City where he resided until 2005. After his divorce he was able to get his same job back at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, and he returned to Colorado. He transitioned from being a staff pharmacist to involvement in the Pharmacy IT department and working solely with computer systems. He enjoyed this branch of pharmacy very much and spent the rest of his career there. He was chosen to work on the UC Health Epic system and also Pharmacogenetics, and especially enjoyed the brilliant people he worked with.

He was a faithful Christian and very active in his church and committed to living his faith. He moved back to Aurora in 2022 and became a member of Skyview Presbyterian Church, and a visiting member of Living Hope Church. He was supported in so many ways by his brothers and sisters in Christ, especially Yee Ming Lee, Gigi and Ted Gildea, Pastor Rick Vasquez, and Pastor Brent Hoffman, and many other faithful members of the congregations. Gary and his family were so blessed by all their love and support, and are forever grateful for their care and compassion.

The family of Gary Kent Hale extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support and comfort during this profoundly difficult time. Your kindness and thoughtfulness have provided solace as they navigate through this journey of loss.

As we honor the memory of Gary, we invite you to join us in a Celebration of Life Services, where we can come together to reflect on the cherished moments and lasting impact he has had on our lives. Your presence would mean so much as we celebrate the beautiful life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to tree planting.
