Gary Marvin Vaith was born on February 23, 1945, in Blooming Prairie, MN, to Floyd and Leila Vaith. As a young boy, he cherished fishing and hunting trips with his father. Gary graduated from Owatonna High School in 1963 and soon after joined the Air Force. During his 21-year career, he served in the 1155th squadron and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant.
While stationed in Sacramento, Gary met the love of his life, Paulette (Pauli). They married in 1968, and Gary’s military service took them to many places, including Hawaii, California, Florida, and finally Colorado.
Gary pursued courses related to his military work at Boston University. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Raytheon for 18 years as a Systems Support Engineer.
Gary had a passion for bowling, softball, card games, spending time with his pets, and fishing. He was a lifelong Vikings fan and also supported the Rockies and Nuggets. He loved listening to Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton and enjoyed binge-watching Netflix. Above all, his favorite pastime was spending time with Pauli. During their 56 years of marriage, they attended concerts and sporting events, visited with family and neighbors, and treasured each other's company.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Sharon Johnson and Ronnie Vaith; niece, Michele (Nate) Bunce; nephews, Craig (Kim) Johnson; nephew-in-law, Richard Voss; and brother-in-law, Joseph Arnese. He is also survived by great-nephews and nieces, Zack (Scott) Johnson, Brandon (Mackenzie) Voss, and Drew (Danielle) Voss, and by his great-great-niece, Lennon, who had the chance to meet Gary shortly before he passed.
Gary was greeted in heaven by his parents, Floyd and Leila, his niece Cindy, and sister-in-law Suzette Arnese.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Denver Hospice for their support and guidance in making Gary’s last days comfortable at home.
In accordance with Gary’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
