Gene Scott passed away on March 30, 2022 at his home. He was 84 and in his wife's care at the time of his passing. Gene was the love of Hazel's life and her soulmate.
Gene was born May 8, 1937 to Charles Scott and Jenny Thomas in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from High school, he chose a career in the United States Air Force. He enlisted and entered boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio Texas on April 11, 1958,
He served in the Air Force for over 20 years, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. Gene's career in the Air Force allowed him to travel the world extensively. Gene was married while in the service and had a daughter and son.
In 1964, he was stationed at RAF South Ruislip, near London, England, where he met his future wife, Hazel. He married Hazel, and became a father to her two daughters and eventually they had a son together. He and the family moved to the United States for a short tour and then was stationed at Ramstein AFB Germany.
In 1977, the family moved to Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska, which would be Gene's final duty station before retiring on May 31, 1978. After retiring, he moved the family to the Denver metro area where he would live until his passing.
While in Denver, he started his second career in Law Enforcement. He found a home with the Denver Sheriff's department, where in his 16 years of service he rose from a rank of Deputy Sheriff to the rank of Captain.
Gene loved to run and had completed several marathons and shorter races throughout his life. His favorite was the Boulder Boulder Road Race and he participated every year he was capable. Other hobbies he enjoyed included golf, listening to jazz music, watching sports, talking politics and gardening with his wife. He also achieved his goal of owning several Corvettes in his life
Gene is survived by his wife, Hazel, his daughters, Jean, Cheryl, Jacqueline, and his sons Vincent and Anthony. His granddaughter's, Jasmine, Ashley, Briana, Maya, Puria, and Mackenzie, . His grandson's Scott, Ross, Desmond, Collin, Jordan and great grandchildren, Nylah, Noah, Destiny, Emani, Tatum, Adelyn, Amina, Braxton, Skylar and Zaria.
He also will be missed by his nephew, Richton Guy Thomas, his daughter-in-law, Tracye, son-in-law's Lou (Champ) and Conrad and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren's spouses and family friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, brother Herman and sister Louise. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Logan Cemetery in Colorado.
