Gerald Dean Graham

March 8, 1931 — July 29, 2022

Gerald Graham, 91, of Aurora, CO passed away on July 29. He was also known as Sonny, Gerry, or GG.
Sonny passed away 6 months and 4 days after Colleen, his wife of 69 years passed away. It goes without saying that he shaped and created who his children, Pam, Dave, and John, were. He had a profound impact on all who knew him. This includes the friends of Pam, Dave and John as they were growing up, co-workers, neighbors, his entire family and his friends.

There are so many ways to talk about who he was – it's impossible to capture it here. Until he was in the hospital just prior to his death, he had never spent an extended time in the hospital. He was still living in the home that he and Colleen purchased 60 years ago.
Sonny would never pay anyone to do something he could do himself. As long as he had a screwdriver, a wrench, and of course, duct tape (or airplane tape), he could fix anything!

Sonny was one of eleven kids born and raised on a farm near Hastings, Nebraska. Something truly remarkable (though he didn't think so) was that he and Colleen moved from those farms to the big city of Denver in 1955 when he started working for United Airlines as a mechanic. He was 24 years old, Colleen was 20, and Pam was 2 months old. They had very little money and lived in a trailer in the area that is now the VA Hospital at Colfax and Potomac.
He loved his garden (mostly tomatoes), camping and fishing, and of course his family.

Sonny was a Navy veteran, a career airplane mechanic retiring from United Airlines as an airline mechanic after 37 years, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also loved by many extended family members.
He is survived directly by one sibling, Pete (Clifford), his 3 children and their spouses (Pam, Dave/Karla, and John/Jan), 2 grandchildren (Holly and Johnny/Kennedy), 2 great grandchildren (Oliver and Grayson) and a step great grandson, Reid. In addition, extended family members include grandchildren Brandon, Jared/Kim, Sarah/Mike and great grandchildren, Michaela, Madison, Ashton, Michael, Mariah and Evelyn.
He taught his children what it meant to work hard but have fun – he was quite the jokester and had a sense of humor until the end. He meant the world to his family and so many others. His family and those who knew him will miss him so very much but are comforted that he and Colleen are together again.
