Gerald K. Moritzky

Gerald (Jerry) Kent Moritzky, 61, of Denver went to be with his Lord on Sunday 3/21/21 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Jerry was born in 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Donald and Annette Moritzky. He was the second born of four boys, his siblings being Bruce, Gordon and Paul (deceased).

Jerry lived the first half of his life in Denver where he excelled in gymnastics at Abraham Lincoln High School. His specialty was the High Bar where he placed second in state his senior year. After high school, Jerry worked many years in the construction industry before moving into a job as a low voltage electrician. His work relocated him to Beaverton, Oregon where he spent the next 15 years.

Jerry met and married Cecilia Barrios in Oregon where they welcomed their only child, Kate Moritzky. A work accident and injury necessitated an early retirement for Jerry. Missing Colorado and his family, Jerry, his wife and daughter moved back to Denver and purchased a home just a few blocks from where he grew up.

After the death of his wife in 2015, Jerry spent the years up to his recent passing raising his child. Jerry's remarkable courage fighting his cancer and his love for his daughter are what sustained him in his final months. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
