Gertrude Julianna Bauer, fondly know as Julia was born the only child of Alfons Bauer and Julianna Krenn in Linz, Austria February 20, 1924. Julia is survived by her only child, Cindy Jane Hisrich, Cindys Husband, James Hisrich and Julias four grandchildren: Chanelle Marie, (her husband Jesse Hoover), Thomas Robert, Erin Renee Hisrich and Amy Christine Hisrich. Also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Nina and Benjamin Hoover. A second Daughter to Julia was Ellen Barnard, her dear friend and care giver for 12 years.
Julia met a dashing young American soldier, Robert Savoree of Donavan, Illinois while he was stationed in Europe (WWII) in 1947. Although Julias' parents did like the American and didn't want their Daughter to travel so far away, they were quickly won over by this charming air force soldier who arrived for their first date astride a white stallion! Julias Father was an officer in the Austria Calvary, later taught chemistry and ultimately owned a very large and successful inn, restaurant and bowling alley. Alfons professionally played nine instruments and loved all animals but especially his three Dachshunds. Julia's mother was a very special person and an excellent chef. Julianna was a homemaker and ran the inn. Julia was raised and educated at an all girl's Catholic Boarding school and went home summers. Julia attended the University of Prague in Czechoslovakia and spoke five languages. Julia loved music, could sing well and played the accordion. She loved dancing, skiing, and ice skating. Julia was a life time member of the Denver Dumb Friends League and loved all Gods creatures. Julia learned her culinary skills from her mother and an invitation for dinner was quite a treat! Julia led an interesting life, traveling with her career air force husband to many countries and throughout the United States. Motorcycles were another hobby and at 5'2'' mastered in a large Harley Davidson. Julia and her husband retired in the state the fell in love with, Colorado. The Beautiful Rockies Reminded Julia of the Alps in he beloved native country of Austria.
Julia Proudly became an American citizen in 1955. Julia always made an impression on whomever she met with her feisty personality, her great sense of humor and her high heel shoe collection! Oma will be sorely missed by family and friends but never forgetten by all.
Julia Joins her Beloved Husband Robert at Fort Logan Cemetery. Julias Family is asking that no flowers be sent but instead donations be made to Denver Hospice in her memory.
