Gertrude, 85, departed this life to join family and friends in the afterlife on August 20, 2004. A resident of the Denver area for 40 years, Gertrude enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing, Air Force football, knitting, counted cross stitch, traveling, spending winters in Tucson and her many, many friendships throughout the years. She is predeceased in death by her first husband, Henry J. Barrows and her second husband, George J. Kapplinger. She is survived by her daughter, Marcy (Doug) Werner, her daughter Sam Yoch, her grandchildren Lauren Morales and Justin Yoch, two great granddaughters, her sister Gwen Stevens and her brother Gilbert Harriman.
Gertrude will always be remembered for her love of life, her sense of humor, her unwavering feistiness and independence and her love of parties. We will all miss her and know that the world is a better place because she has been in it. Visitation Monday 4-8PM, Service Tuesday at 11AM, both at Newcomer West Chapel, followed by interment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
Our deepest appreciation is extended to the staff at Hospice of Metro Denver for the love, care and concern you all have given to our mother.
