Glenn David Jackson

October 22, 1947 — August 19, 2023

Glenn David Jackson, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on August 19, 2023. Glenn was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on October 22, 1947, to Ida Lee Jackson. The family arrived in Denver in 1955, where she met and married his stepfather, Timothy Paul.

A determined athlete, Glenn was part of the gymnastics and swimming team at East High School before he graduated in 1966. After graduation, he enrolled in the U.S. Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam as part of the 20th Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, and Company D 1st platoon. A decorated soldier, Glenn earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He was also a qualified sharpshooter. In his second year of duty, he was severely wounded in combat and honorably discharged with full disability in 1973.

Like many Vietnam veterans, Glenn's return to civilian life was complicated. After military service, he built a life committed to family. In 1998, he and Marian Trammell began their 24 years together as husband and wife. Always together, they love to travel, be with family, and contribute to charitable causes like Toys4Tots and the American Legion Post 87 Thanksgiving and Christmas meals program. Glenn loved to go fishing in the early morning and was an avid consumer of Westerns movies till late in the night. He knew all the movies, actors, and TV shows. In 1999, when she was four days old, Glenn and Marian took on the guardianship and raising of his granddaughter Cynthia Lawson.

Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Lee Paul, his stepfather Timothy Paul, grandson, Joseph Alston-West, seven Aunts and four Uncles. Glenn is survived by his wife Marian Jackson, his daughter Doris Alston (Dee Dee), his stepdaughter Katryna Swedberg, eight grandchildren: Cynthia Lawson, Jonathan Alston (JD), Keith Alston, Kevin Alston, Anthony Romero, Glenn West, Devin Alston and Xavi Trammell. Also, eleven great-grandchildren: Markelle, Johnathan Jr, Dariana, Kaizley, Nayeli, Adrian, Kieva, Caiomhe, Khalese, Josiah and Braelyn, his lifetime friend, Victor Roberson and a host of other relatives and friends.
