Born in the Delta State, Nigeria, to Benjamin and Irene Ogbru, in the Isoko community. She moved to America in the early 1970s and then moved back to Nigeria and then back to America and went to college at South Dakota State University achieving a BS in Food Science, later at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, she received an MS degree in Social Science. Met Anthony DeLoach in 1999 and married in September 2000, two children were born of the union, Alpha, and Mittie.
Gloria as a mother was unparalleled, she was a dedicated mother and ensured that Alpha and Mittie achieved the best education possible that she and Anthony could provide. She ensured Alpha and Mittie grew into respectable women instilling in them that “life is precious”, and having a love for God is essential.
Gloria what a wonderful spirit. Impeccable integrity, strong, fighter, unwavering character, and advocate for the community. Gloria worked to lead family leadership groups where she facilitated the process of others gaining skills to lead in their community.
Gloria was a devoted wife to Anthony for 24 years. There were many “roller coaster rides” however through loving god and prayer, a balanced relationship prevailed. She was a great cook (healthy), an HGTV aficionado from the many projects she requested be done by Anthony, conservative (small c), and efficient.
Gloria left her husband Anthony DeLoach, daughters Alpha DeLoach, and Mittie DeLoach and stepdaughter Natasha DeLoach Smith, and brother Omudhome Ogbru. Her death is preceded by her father, mother, and sister (Enifome Ogbru Iwiuwhiu). She leaves a host of nieces and nephews and other family members from the Isoko community and other Nigerian communities.
