Graham Haney

February 4, 1941 — April 19, 2021

Graham Haney, 80, of Westminster CO, passed away on April 19, 2021. He and his twin brother Gregory Haney (passed) was born February 4, 1941 in Highland Park, Michigan the son of Samuel and Madelyn (Kanuss Haney).

Graham could accomplish anything he put his mind to do especially with his brother at his side. Those two were each others rock growing up. At an early age he loved football. He and his brother attended Boone High School in Orlando Florida. They both played Offensive tackle and Defensive end. When they played they used to tell each other "meet you at the quarterback," and that became their motto as they played defense. They were selected to the 1960 All-County team and were part of the first Boone team to beat Edgewater. In 2011 they both were inducted to the Boone High Hall of Fame. I remember while there a fellow athlete told me "I've never felt as scared in college or in the pros as I was going against the Haney boys."

Mr. Haney served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam from 09/1/1960-11/30/1964. He was part of the Special Ops Fleet Marine Force. He was given the Good Conduct Medal, M-14 Rifle Expert Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Naval Achievement and Commendation Awards, this is just to name a few. He was also inducted in the Marine Corp Museum. He was a very proud Marine all the way to the end. In Hospice My Uncle Chuck told my mom to whisper in his ear Hoorah...He got such a big smile...

After serving Graham decided to move to Colorado where he enrolled in the Denver Police Academy and graduated in 1968. He served 28 years as a Field Instructor for District 2. During his time he was the first officer to train woman when they came aboard. He also trained over 300 Denver Police Officers. In 1984 he received the Police Office Of The Year (Top Cop), he also received 2 Denver Police Cross Awards. He was an over achiever and during his 28 year he had received numerous Citations and Awards, he was also inducted in the Denver Police Museum. He took his job serious, he was well respected by the Officers he trained and his Partners. A fellow Officer once told me, "If Haney was your back up you new the best was on its way." - 68050 Signing Off...

Graham will be missed by many. He was someone you could go to for advice, assistance and no judging he just wanted to help. He has left a Legacy of family and friends. He is survived by the Love of his life Connie, Daughter Alanna Lynn Haney, Grandsons Brandhan Jones Tiedeman, Dillhan Graham Tiedeman and Niece Stephanie Haney-Bernstein.
