Greg was born on July 21,1951 in Orange City, Iowa to Maynard and Freda Drost. He was the younger brother of Bruce Drost (now deceased).
At the age of two, Greg and his family moved to Denver, CO. He grew up in southeast Denver where he attended school, played baseball, played football and looked for snakes in Harvard Gulch in his younger years.
On August 2, 1970 Greg married, Laurie, his wife of 39 years. They have three sons, Cory (Cory Rae), Jesse (Michelle) and Eli (Sarah). He was also blessed with four grandchildren and was Uncle Greg to seven nieces and nephews.
Greg was a kind and generous man. He worked hard to support his family as a purchasing manager at a furniture manufacturer for 30 years. He loved to read and was very knowledgeable in theology and politics. His hobbies included a passion for flyfishing, a love of golf and, believe it or not, an enjoyment of working in the yard. While growing up he attended First Christian Reformed Church. There he met Doyle Roth who later led him to saving faith in The Lord Jesus Christ. He and his family attended Littleton Bible Chapel where he taught Sunday School and led home bible studies.
Greg’s physical and mental health declined over the last number of years but he remained good natured and was a source of humor to those around him. Most importantly his faith remained in spite of the hardships he endured.
John 14:1-6
14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
