Grover C. Farmer

Grover Curtis "Curt" Farmer, age 81, of Hartsel, Colorado, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 24, 2011 of a stroke. He was born on January 5, 1930 in Aulander, North Carolina. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and while stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, he married his wife, Dot, on November 4, 1950. He served his
country honorably until his retirement in 1972 with the rank of Major. He graduated from Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1955. He completed four years of college in three years, graduating from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1966, with a degree in International Relations. After his retirement he served as Chief of Police in Belleair, Florida. After working as
chief of police, he worked as a private investigator and a realtor. He had a great love for the country he served and taught his family to love the United States of America, as well. He was a man of great honor, integrity and his word. He belonged to the Army and Navy Lodge Number 306 A.F. & A.M., Hampton, Virginia; the Association of Former Office of Special Investigation Special Agents (AFOSISA); Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); American Legion Heisler-Johnson Post 119, Largo, Florida; VFW Post 1166, Buena Vista, Colorado and the AL KALY SHRINERS, Pueblo, Colorado. He is survived by his wife of sixty years Dot Louise Ford Farmer, his three children, Terry Katherine Bartell, Victor, Colorado, Susan Louise Farmer Theodoropoulos, Hartsel,Colorado, and Richard Curtis Farmer, Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren David Scott Thibault and Nicole, Rochester, New York., Timothy Nicholas Thibault, Gardner, Kansas, and Eleni Louise Wenzel and Mark, Sinton, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Corey Allen Thibault, Madeline Bradley Thibault, and Mark Edward Wenzel, Jr., and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Clinton Farmer, his mother Allie Gertrude Harris Farmer, and his nine brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Newcomer Funeral Homes and Crematory, West Metro Chapel Lakewood, Colorado. Interment, with military honors, will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on April 4, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wounded Warriors or your Military Charity of choice. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
