Guy Willis Franson was born February 2, 1926, in Russell, Minnesota, to Ted and Elizabeth Franson. He grew up in Duluth and International Falls, Minnesota, spending summers with his grandparents, Doc and Edith Pearson. After graduating from Denfeld High School, in Duluth, Guy joined the Navy and was assigned to the USS George Clymer. The George Clymer served at Bikini Atoll as flagship for Transport Division 11 during atomic bomb tests in the Marshall Islands. Guy left the Navy as an Ensign then attended the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a degree in Geology. After graduation he spent time in the Four Corners region prospecting for uranium. He went on to a 45 year career in the Petroleum Industry which he enjoyed immensely. He married Lorene Barton of Altus, Oklahoma on March 6, 1951. During their 67 year marriage they lived in Minot, ND, Slidell, LA, Oklahoma City, Midland, TX, Casper, WY, Liberal, KS, Fort Worth, TX, and Littleton, CO. They had four children: Cathy, Eric, Carl and Amy. Guy worked for many years at Midwest Oil, in Fort Worth and Denver, where he was Vice President of Exploration. The family moved to Littleton in 1972 where he and Lorene remained. He enjoyed his family; concocting spicy recipes, boating, bird hunting and family vacations across the Western U.S. He loved history and was a voracious reader.
He is survived by his wife Lorene, daughters Cathy and Amy, sons Eric (Tammi), and Carl, and six grandchildren; Christopher (Lindsay), Austin, Michelle, Travis (Lindsey), Cole and Audrey.
