Harry Korotky

December 2, 1935 — December 24, 2020

Harry was born December 2nd 1935 in East Chicago, Indiana, the third son of Andrew and Akulina Korotky, who had immigrated from Russia. He grew up in the Indiana and Chicago area where he would eventually meet his wife of 60 years, Katie, in High School. As an athlete, he wrestled and played center for the football team, which would go on to win the State Championship in 1952. He later attended the University of Toledo where he studied electrical engineering on a wrestling and football scholarship.

A loyal and loving family man, he provided a great life for his family. After working for the Northern Indiana Power Company, followed by a couple Steel Mills, he moved the family to Colorado at the beginning of the 1970's. He first worked at Coors Brewery as an electrician while building a house in Arvada. Many years later he would retire from Interstate Electric, a company he said was the best place he ever worked.

Harry's favorite thing to eat was anything with ketchup. He liked skiing and fishing in the Colorado mountains, and loved playing Poker and Black Jack. For a few years after retiring he enjoyed a second career dealing cards at casinos in Blackhawk, Colorado. He and Katie frequently went "up the hill" after his dealing days were over.

Harry was a happy and kind man, who will be dearly missed by those who knew him. In our memory he will forever be "As Fine as Frog's Hair."

Harry is survived by his brother Walter Korotky, daughter Theresa Janke, son Robert Korotky, grandchildren Cassidee Janke, Savannah Chandler and Alex Janke, and great grandchildren Ari & Lexi Janke, and Colton Chandler.
