Helen Eilers lived to be a wonderful and wise 96 years old.
She is survived by one of 5 sisters, Marge Hendricks, her only daughter
Gloria Van Dorpe and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great
great grandchildren.
It is ironic that her being the 1st of 5 generations is why we call her a
great or great great grandmother, because to all of us there are so many
reasons that we called her great.
She was a loving woman that always had a smile, song, and laugh to share.
She taught a great many of us how to love with our entire hearts, what it
meant to compliment someone, how it helped their heart and yours, how to
turn a frown upside down and most importantly how to be a good person.
She was voted as having the best sense of humor at Canterbury Gardens, for
those that knew her, we know how true that was. She would joke and laugh
and even blush at times. She was always handing out smiles and laughter
like it was sunshine.
Bringing her a banana split or an ice cream was one of the easiest and best
ways to fill her heart with joy, her face with a smile, and her belly with
goodness. She loved to sit down and eat ice cream and tell stories. She
collected so many stories through her life that she loved to share. It was
a blessing that she was able to keep her mind and memories and share them
with a willing visitor. She would sometimes tell her life stories, history
and memories for hours. It was a true blessing to able to share those with
her.
She will be missed in so many ways and by so many people. The love that
she showered each of us is not gone but now has to be preserved within
ourselves.
May she rest easy knowing that she was loved by many. The impact that she
made on our lives will live within us.
