Helen A Ellis
Helen A. Ellis, age 72, of Aurora passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 after fighting lung problems and pneumonia for the past several months. She was born May 19, 1936 in Ogallala, NE, the daughter of Raymond Peters and Sylvia (Stone) Peters. She grew up in Ogallala and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1954. On June 27, 1954 she married Von Ellis in the United Methodist Church in Ogallala. They moved from Ogallala in 1959 and after living in Buena Vista, CO for one year, they moved to Aurora, CO in 1960. In October of 1962, they moved to their present home. Helen did sewing and alterations during the early years and then helped her husband Von run a glass business until he went to work for the City of Aurora in 1979. She volunteered for two nursing homes in Aurora, worked part-time at a craft store for several years and also made and sold crafts at craft shows. Helen participated in the November Arts and Crafts show in Ogallala for several years. Survivors include her husband Von Ellis of Aurora, mother Sylvia Peters of Ogallala, NE, sons Steven Ellis and wife Teri of Ogallala, Kevin Ellis and wife Kim of Aurora, daughter Tamara (Tami) Robison and husband Paul of Aurora, two grandsons Kenton Ellis and Christopher Robison, granddaughter Mackenzie Robison all of Aurora; two brothers Raymond Peters (Jr.) and wife Kay of Princeton, MN, Jim Peters and wife Pam of Brule, NE, two brother and sister-in-laws Leslie Ellis (Jr.) and wife Sally of Lenora, KS, Bob and Barb Ellis of North Platte, NE and sister-in-law Myrna Jones of Oberlin, KS, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Peters, grandmother Rachel Stone, mother and father-in-law Leslie and Ethel Ellis, nephew Bradley Peters and several Aunts and Uncles. In lieu of flowers, cards and memorials may be sent to Von Ellis, 13045 E 13th Ave., Aurora, CO 80011. Memorials will be distributed to Helen's favorite charities. Newcomer Funeral Home-East Metro Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The memorial service will be held Friday August 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm (MST) with condolences from 12:30 until the time of service.
Burial will be in the Ogallala cemetery at a later date.
