To the world you were Helen, but to us you were a loving women we called grandma. You were the grandma that always had all the cookies and candy our hearts desired.
Helen Jeanette McAnally, 84, finsihed her final chapter here on earth on September 17, 2020, at her home in Aurora, Colorado, surrounded by an abundence of love from her family.
Helen was born Helen Jeanette Scruggs on March 2, 1936 in Silverdale, Kansas to Claude Scruggs and Inez Allen. She was one of seven precious children. She resided in Arkansas City, Kansas with her parents and six sibilings. Helen attended school in Arkansas City, Kansas, where she laid eyes on the love of her life.
Helen and Robert McAnally entered into holy matrimony March 1, 1954 in Arkansas City, Kansas. Not long after tying the knot these newlyweds welcomed their first baby named Gayla. Shortly after having Gayla, this family of three moved to Colorado. About a year after moving to Colorado this family became a family of four, when they welcomed their son Daniel. A few years later they welcomed their last child named Cynthia. Helen's lucky number must have been eleven since each one of her children were born on the eleventh day of different months and years.
Helen was a stay at home mom unitl her youngest baby was in third grade. It was then she landed her first job at Wright Mcgil. After working there Helen moved on to her second job Samsonite. She then decided to go back to being a stay at home mom until her children were much older. Helen then found her calling back to work as a subsitute in food nutrition for Aurora Public Schools. She subsituted in many different Aurora school kitchens for two years. Helen had a love for sewing. She sowed everything from kids clothes to liens. She always kepted her family in style with the handmade clothes and she kepted them warm with all her homemade blankets.
Helen is survived by her daughters-Gayla Jeanette Duvall of Clarksville, Tennessee and Cynthia Lee Orin of Aurora, Colorado. Her grandchildren-Dawn Selena McAnally, Jennifer Winn Ferebee, Shelby Rose Hagren, Michelle A. Jacobo, Robert Derek Orin, Heath Kevin McAnally, and Mercedes Nichole McAnally. Her great grandchildren-Octavia Natasha Brackeen, Aundrea Celes Brackeen, MaKayla Kaylei Brackeen, Bryce Austin Brackeen, Sebastian Niel Brackeen, Logan Thomas Biermen, Christopher Lee McAnally, Baily Sue McAnally, Emma Elizabeth Biermen, Kai Christopher Hagern, Jeffery James Jacobo, Luccille Marie Jacobo, Braiden Austin Neil McAnally and Gaven Will Allen McAnally. Her great great grandchildren-Garrett Daniel Brackeen, Serenity Rose Geese, Zayne Gage Hoffman, Nova Rayne Hoffman, and Ayden Elijah Long. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her parents-in-law, her six sibilings and last, but most certainly not least her son.
