Herbert Curtis Pruett III was born in Las Vegas, NV, on December 3, 1968, to Herbert "Curt" Curtis Pruett Jr. and Carol Ann (Kovach) Pruett. After growing up in the United States Air Force, "Curtis" planted most of his roots around the Denver, CO, area. He graduated from the Art Institute of Colorado in the early 1990s, which lead to his favorite hobby of redecorating model dollhouses. Curtis (aka "Duke") also enjoyed hanging out with plenty of friends, finding everything unique and different in the world, and reading. Curtis had a love for all things, all people, all animals, and all life-forms. He was a spiritual being that loved love and thrived on friends and family. Curtis sought out the different and eclectic individuals of life that weren't usually noticed, creating a safe place for them to thrive while in his presence in return. Curtis fully believed in "the underdog" and helping the world to become a better place for those around him. He cared deeply for all things, all people, and all ways of life – both current, past and future forms.
Curtis passed away peacefully, comfortably, and surrounded by the unconditional love of his parents, sister (Penney Sue [Pruett] Smith), brother-in-law (Bruce Allen Smith), niece (Stephanie Amber [Smith] Thompson) and nephew-in-law (Larry Dean Thompson Jr.), on March 3, 2020, at Denver Health Hospital in Denver, CO. He was 51 years 3 months young. Curtis is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mona Irene (Carroll) Kovach and Paul Joseph Kovach, and his paternal grandfather Herbert Curtis Pruett. In addition to his immediate family, he left behind three great-step-nephews and a soon-to-be great-niece, several aunts, several uncles, and many cousins. At this time, there are no details for any arrangements or services.
