Herbert H. Strider, 86, of Aurora, Colorado, sadly left us on April 21, 2023.
Herbert was born in Montgomery County, North Carolina on October 22, 1936. He was the son of Cicero Hammer Strider, Sr. and Mary Lena Belch Strider. He was the second youngest of nine children.
Herb was one of a kind. He tried to put a smile on everyone's face he was around by making a joke or just by being his ornery self. He was the kind of person who would help anyone, even if it meant taking the shirt off his own back. In his opinion, nothing was trash - everything could be overhauled and made usable again. He loved to share his hobbies with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, horseshoes, pool, wine making, tinkering in his shop, and family.
Herbert was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base until August 2, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. While there, he met his wife of 65 years, Georgia Mae Norwood. They married on May 26, 1957.
Herbert worked for the City of Aurora for 22 plus years before retiring on December 29, 1995.
Herb is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae Strider; daughter Deborah Sue Campbell and her husband Kurt D. Campbell; grandchildren Derick (Trina) Campbell, Colt (Laureen) Hafer, and Nicole (Jay) Nielson; great-grandchildren Kenzie, Caden, Brodie, Porter, Dominic, Gianna; sister-in-law Margaret Ann Mace; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and extended family Cheryl (Tom) Hafer, Ashley (Trey and Jack) Fisher, and James (Kassandra) Hafer.
He is preceded in death by his son Steven Jay Strider, brothers John B., James Arther, Cicero H. (CH), Charles H., Lawrence, and sisters Marjorie, Sibyl, and Mary Elizabeth.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
