Homer Eugene (Gene) Ramsey was born on June 10, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas. He was the only child of Thelma Coral Ratliff and Homer Everett Ramsey. His parents had a volatile relationship, and were unable to live together. He graduated from high school in 1946, and then he enlisted in the US Marines. He only served a short time (11 months), as the Armed Forces were reducing their staffing levels at the time. He met and married Carol Jean Richter soon after he was released from the Marines; their anniversary date is Dec. 17, 1949. Together, Gene and Carol had 5 children: Timothy, Valerie, Neil, Robert (Bob), and Patrick.
Gene worked most of his life as an apprentice plumber and journeyman plumber. His hobbies were reading, collecting coins and paper money, and restoring antique Ford automobiles. He was fond of listening to "Big Band style" music and country music; he also enjoyed watching movies of all types. He was a member of South Denver Masonic Lodge #93 in Denver, CO. Gene is survived by his wife Carol, their 5 children (listed earlier), and 7 grandchildren: Jennifer Cooper, Stephanie Van Saun, Andrea Ramsey, Tyler Ramsey, Cynthia Kinnan, Gregory Ramsey, and Billy Ray Ramsey. Gene and Carol also have 4 great-grandchildren: Jack, Savannah, Annabelle, and Will.
Gene was loved dearly by his family and will be missed very much.
